The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) gives parents the right to request an evaluation that is completed by an unbiased third-party when they do not agree with the results of their child’s school-based evaluations (e.g., MET), at no fee to them, which is called an Independent Educational Evaluation, or an IEE.
These evaluations can be academic, emotional, behavioral, social and/or communication related. Our IEE's include a diagnostic interview with parents, direct testing, school observations, and parent, teacher, and related service provider input. We also attend school multidisciplinary team meetings to review the results and recommendations. There are several different types of IEE's available.
