Andrea is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. She received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Arizona State University (ASU). After graduating, she was recommended for a job as a Behavior Therapist working with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). It was then she found her missing puzzle piece in helping children, and in her new passion for learning the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA). After three years of providing ABA in a lead therapist role in both Arizona and a brief time in New Jersey/Greater NYC area, Andrea returned to ASU to obtain her Master’s of Science in Applied Behavior Analysis.
Through her graduate school experience, Andrea had opportunity to work with unique populations, including individuals with neurodegenerative disorders, children with Fragile X syndrome, and adults with ASD and other comorbid diagnoses. She has received extensive training and experience developing and implementing various programs based on the principles of ABA, including Discrete Trial Training (DTT), Natural Environment Training (NET), Pivotal Response Training (PRT), Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), and Verbal Behavior (VB). Andrea also has had exposure and experience with Precision Teaching (PT), Behavior Skills Training (BST), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Over the past 7 years, Andrea has held roles as a behavior therapist and program manager. In November 2017, she received her credentials as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, and is expected to become licensed in June 2019. Andrea has provided ABA therapy in one-on-one and social skills group settings in the home, various schools, clinic and community. She has provided job coaching and parent training, and enjoys completing FBAs to assist in parent and school consultations.
