Tera is a certified elementary education teacher. She received her BA in Elementary Education from Arizona State University. Her time as a teacher was spent at a Title 1 school where she taught in English Language Learner Inclusive Classrooms, teaching kindergarten and third grade. Tera is a parent of a teenager with autism spectrum disorder and through this was introduced to teaching children with autism and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). When living in Maui, HI, Tera home-schooled her son for two and half years using an ABA/Verbal Behavior Approach Program. Through her son’s program, Tera received intensive teaching in Verbal Behavior, Natural Environment Training (NET), and Discrete Trial Teaching (DTT) and developed a passion for ABA therapy and principles. Upon returning to Arizona, Tera became an ABA therapist and gained further training in Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT) and Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs).
Tera received her Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction (Applied Behavior Analysis) from Arizona State University in May of 2016. She became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in August of 2016 and a licensed behavior analyst in December 2016. Tera spends most of her time in the home where she designs and oversees individualized behavior programs based on the principles of ABA. Tera also provides parent consultation for parent implemented behavioral programs. In addition, Tera has experience developing FBAs in the home and schools.Tera@GentryPBS.com
